🎁 Place your holiday order by this date 🎁

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!

I had a wonderful time at Port Townsend Holiday Craft Fair last weekend.

Definitely a show I wanna come back to!

Don’t I fit right in with these otters? 😉

If you’re shopping for adorable holiday gifts online, I want you to know I’ll be out of town later this month and need you to place your orders soon!

Please place your online orders by Sunday, December 16th.

Last day for shipping before Christmas is Monday, December 17th.

My shop will be open while we’re gone, but any order that comes in after December 16th will ship on or after Friday, December 28th.

We’ll be in Wisconsin visiting Dave’s family for Christmas. I hope there will be snow!!! ❄️🥶☃️

Let me know if you have any questions! I’m here to help.

ps. Are you a Seattle local? I’ll be at a few more holiday craft fairs if you wanna shop directly in person!

Self-care is not selfish 💗

How do you take care of yourself?

Or, are you that person who feels “self-care” is a nice thought but not meant for you?

Do the words “self-care” make you cringe and fill you with guilt?

What’s self-care anyway?

You may think of cliche things like taking a bubble bath and eating chocolate 🍫 (which is my favorite).

I see it as giving yourself what you need emotionally, physically, and mentally so you can be loving and present with yourself and people you care about.

For example, when I feel overwhelmed and not like myself, I:

– Lie down and close my eyes for 10 minutes.

– Break down what I’m overwhelmed about into smaller steps and do something.

– Watch cute animal videos on YouTube (thank goodness for the internet!)

– Talk to Dave. Sometimes, all I need to feel better is to verbalize how I’m feeling.

– Doodle.

– Cancel dinner with friends if I’d rather stay home and have an alone time.

– Eat a donut and don’t punish myself for it.

– Take a walk.

– Diffuse my favorite essential oils (my fave uplifting combo is lavender, wild orange, and peppermint from doTerra.)

– Watch a sad movie and cry.

– Give someone else encouragement.

– Make a list of what I’m grateful for, no matter how small.

(These are just some of the things that help me – your list may look very different, and that’s OK!)

At my old non-profit job, we once had a speaker come and talk to us about the importance of self-care.

She said “saying no to someone else is saying yes to yourself.” And that’s stuck with me for many years.

(In fact, I should make a card saying that 💡yes?)

You know, self-care’s like taking care of your car – if you take it in for a regular maintenance, you prevent the major issues from cropping up in the future – saving you money and the headaches (and accidents!) in a long run.

Nobody thinks taking a good care of your car is selfish. They actually think it’s smart!!

Self-care works the same way. If you do small things to take care of yourself every day, it’ll keep you away from that scary B-word.

BURN-OUT.

Who wants a burn-out? NOBODY. If you’re burnt out, you stop caring. You’re no good for anyone, including yourself.

You may think “nah, I’m too busy for this. I’m doing OK.”

Hear me out. It’s not the matter of “if,” it’s “when.” Just like a head gasket in your car, which is guaranteed to get blown at a certain mileage (speaking from an experience 🙋🏻‍♀️), burnout will happen if you never stop to take care of yourself.

Taking care of yourself before you get too drained to care is not selfish. It’s necessary.

You know, your friends and family don’t care as much if your house is sparkling clean or your kid’s dressed in a perfectly matching outfit – they’d prefer that you’re happy and fun to be around.

My “Self-Care is not Selfish” design has resonated with many people since I created it last summer.

It tells me that so many of us struggle to put our needs first.

We all need to believe in this message. And if you need to hear it from someone else, hear it from me!

And now it’s available as a vinyl, dishwasher safe sticker!

Decorate your water bottle, mug, laptop, bike helmet, or car with this sticker (I have a friend who put my “You Are Enough” sticker on her bathroom mirror as a daily reminder ❤️) so you can take it wherever you go.

I hope my little creation will remind you that you’re a human being who deserves a little TLC every day❤️

Here is how you can cross off that big “to-do” on your list 📝

Hey friend,

My winter holiday craft fair calendar is finalized!

I’m gonna be busy, busy, busy but happy, happy, happy to see you there 😍

Holiday craft fairs are pure magic. You’ll meet lots of talented local makers and learn the story behind the goods they make.

How cool would it be to tell your loved ones that the art you bought was inspired by the artist’s past work in the anti gender-based violence? Or learn how the Chinese zodiac animals came to be??

(Which you can learn if you come chat with me at the fairs 😉)

And you’ll get to cross off “buy awesome holiday gifts for family” from your list while getting some cardio 👟 and admiring beautiful handmade stuff all day long.

Win win, right?

Most of the fairs offer food, music, and fun holiday decorations, too, so invite your friends to join you ❄️ I know you’re overdue for a quality time with your bff!

Visit my events page to get more details 😘

Hope to see you there!

p.s. Go to my events page if you wanna know more about each fair.

p.p.s. My online shop is open 24/7 if you don’t live in the area.

2017 Holiday Fabric Collection & Notepads in Shop!

Hi Friend!

My new winter holiday fabric/wrapping paper collection is now available in my Spoonflower shop!

Check out all the designs and colors ❤

{Triangle Forest: black | black/white | smoky blue | red | light blue/white | light blue | honey yellow | red/white | green/blue/yellow | blue/red/yellow }

{Cross Stitch: smoky blue | black/white | honey yellow | red |light blue }

{Cozy Pups in Sweaters : white }

I love these simple coordinating designs ❤ They’re so clean and versatile but have the warm handmade feeling to it.

I’m thinking about making myself a tote bag with the red Triangle Forest fabric on the outside and black/white Cross Stitch fabric on the inside. You can purchase them in fat quarters, too, which are perfect for making tea towels!

Oh, and I just recently found out they have a sweet Fill-a-Yard deal where you can buy multiple designs that fit a yard of fabric so you can buy just what you need for the project you’re working on! It’s BRILLIANT.

{I played with their 1-yard cheater quilt template. I’ve never quilted before, but this cheater design may just work!}

And don’t forget, all of my designs are also available as gift wrapping paper and wall paper.

Your creative possibilities are endless… 🙂

(*Be sure to check out Spoonflower’s holiday shipping deadlines – their standard turnaround time could take 2 weeks or more, and I’d hate for you to have to pay extra for rush order!)

I hope you can handle more cuteness today because my new notepads are in my Etsy shop now!

{ Eat a Rainbow Market List / Succulent To-Do List / Cozy Pups in Sweaters To-Do List }

How adorable are these? I couldn’t be happier with how these turned out.

I’ve been “test driving” them at home, and it makes me smile every time I use it 🙂

These will make perfect stocking stuffer gifts and/or a little pre-holiday gift for yourself so you’ll feel more organized during the holidays!

And they pair so well with some of the other goodies in my shop, don’t you think?

(Pssst, I’m working on putting together some fun holiday gift bundles, so keep that in mind as you plan your holiday shopping! More to come next week.)

Oh, and don’t forget – you’ll get FREE U.S shipping on orders of $35 or more in my Etsy shop. Just use the coupon code “HAPPY35” upon checkout!

Thank you always for supporting my work 🙂 You rock!

And you know the truth is – what they’re gonna find the most touching is not the card itself – it’s your thoughtfulness. The fact you thought of them and took the time our of your busy schedule to send them a card alone means so much.

I’m grateful if I could help brighten up your loved ones’ day with my art ❤

AND, let me give you a preview of my new notepads!

They’re not in the shop yet but coming in the next couple of weeks. I love paper products and use notepads all the time, so I’m extra excited to be able offer these for the holiday season. An excellent stocking stuffer!

2018 Happy Beautiful Day Calendar is here!

I designed a new wall calendar for 2018, and it’s available in my Etsy shop now!

I love creating calendars because it makes it so easy to bring in beautiful art in your everyday life.

It’s got 12 full-color watercolor illustrations of whimsical floral bouquets accompanied by brush-lettered positive messages.

I wanted to make a calendar with lots of bright colors. I’m confident I achieved that goal 😀

Some of the paintings were from my daily painting practice earlier this year. (You can see my creative process in this post.)

It’s 5″x8″, which is a perfect size for your office or studio and handy for shipping to your loved ones, too.

I chose to incorporate a phrase into each month that’s encouraging and uplifting. I was thinking “what do I want to hear? what cheers me up?”

I worked with a local printshop, and the calendars turned out so beautiful ❤

I sold out of last year’s calendars in early December, so I ordered a bunch more for this year. Lots of them have already been going out to various shops and customers, so don’t wait too long to get yours if you’ve been wanting one!

I’m going to have these at several craft shows this fall/winter, and if you don’t live in the Seattle area, you can purchase them in my Etsy shop here. I ship internationally, too!

Have a happy beautiful day!

Sneak preview! 2017 mindfulness & gratitude wall calendar!

Confession time: I’ve been a bit out of sorts the past few months.

On top of the usual summer busy-ness, I traveled to North Carolina in August, dealt with an illness and the loss of our beloved kitty, Sheppie, and took a trip to Japan in September.

And just as I thought I could finally sit down to focus, we had another pet emergency with our parakeet, Gerty, over the last weekend (she seems to be recovering ok), so I had to hit the pause button again.

As much as I want to believe I could do everything like my life is normal, my work had to take a backseat through these planned and unplanned events.

Life happens. And I’m trying to remind myself that things have always worked out in the past, and this will also pass.

With that being said, I’m slowing making a progress on my winter holiday products and am very happy to see how they’re coming together!

Here is a sneak preview of my 2017 Mindfulness & Gratitude Wall Calendar:

I'd rather be here and now watercolor illustration calendar
I’d rather be here and now.
may all beings be happy, peaceful, and liberated watercolor art calendar
May all beings be happy, peaceful, and liberated.
Live like you have everything you need watercolor art calendar
Live like you have everything you need.

In addition to the wall calendar, I’ll be releasing new art prints, notebooks, and holiday greeting cards in early November.

I’ll keep you posted on when these will be available on my Etsy shop! Stay tuned 🙂

Thank you, friend! Have a wonderful day 🙂
